The Dynamic-Relational Therapy Centre is directed by Dr. Paul L. Hewitt. He is a Clinical Psychologist registered in the province of British Columbia, a Full Professor in the Department of Psychology and an Associate Member of the Psychotherapy Program, in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia.

Dr. Hewitt offers individual or group psychotherapy for perfectionism and other psychological issues such as Interpersonal and relational problems, depression, anxiety, self-esteem and personality-related disorders, in Vancouver and Maple Ridge, BC. He also provides workshops and trainings about DRT to clinicians and students.

Locations

The Dynamic Relational Therapy (DRT) Centre has offices in British Columbia, located in Vancouver and Maple Ridge, where Dr. Hewitt provides DRT therapy. In Ontario, DRT therapy is offered in Toronto by Dr. Samuel Mikail, a registered psychologist with over 25 years of experience in adult clinical, health, and rehabilitation psychology.

What is Dynamic Relational Therapy?

DRT is an evidence-based integrative psychotherapeutic approach that was developed initially for the treatment of perfectionism by Dr. Paul L. Hewitt and Dr. Samuel F. Mikail. This form of psychotherapy integrates interpersonal and short term dynamic psychotherapy principles and focuses on the interpersonal (relationships with others) and intrapersonal (the nature of the relationship with the self) patterns that act as vulnerabilities to numerous kinds of distress, dysfunction, and disorders (e.g., depression, anxiety, eating, and personality disorders and others) as well as other significant problems in living (e.g., self-esteem, relationship problems, self-hatred, and others).
