The second stream addresses the question: What is perfectionism associated with in terms of negative outcomes such as psychological and physical health problems, as well as both relationship and achievement problems. The third stream involves research directed toward the development of models and theories explaining how and why perfectionism is associated with the many negative outcomes as well as how does perfectionism develop. The fourth stream involves the development, evaluation, and refinement of a treatment for perfectionism and its associated difficulties.
